Step 2

Do you have your own system which allows you to sell advertising on a programmatic basis?

Do you have your own software system (or platform) which allows you to sell advertising space on a programmatic basis to Media Agencies and Advertisers on behalf of third party digital publishers?

The Media Agencies and Advertisers will have access to your system so that they can buy the advertising themselves.

If you do not own your own software system (or platform) are you selling advertising space on behalf of a third party digital publisher?

In the Programmatic Sales industry, you identify as an SSP (Supply Side Platform).

Step 3 - Main Fees

Main annual licence fee:

What’s your service or channel name?

There are 3 parts to the licence for a Programmatic Sales House.

The main licence allows access to Barb data to promote the sales of advertising space. The annual fee is £14,070 and is payable by all licensees.

The second part of the licence is based upon the share of Total Identified Viewing for both linear channels and VOD and video-sharing services which are measured by Barb. If you are working with a VOD or video-sharing service which is measured by Barb then enter the service name in the box to get the share of Total Identified Viewing. The period is based on the 12 months from 1st July to 30th June for the preceeding year, referred to as the ‘base period’. You will need to do this for each VOD and video-sharing service you represent.

Do you want to use Barb data as part of the sales process?

If you are not selling programmatic space on behalf of a publisher that Barb measures but would like to use the data to help with selling the airtime, then this licence will apply and is based upon your advertising revenue.

There are two tiers for this part of the licence. The first tier is based on advertising revenue that is under £5 million. The second tier is based on advertising revenue which is above £5 million. Declaration of advertising revenue will be subject to independent audit.

Please note that you may only need the main annual licence and the advertising revenue part of the Programmatic Sales House licence or you may need all three parts.

What is your advertising revenue?

*Any data you share on revenue is required to produce an accurate estimate, this information is discarded on submission. Submissions are only completed when you click the ‘Submit’ button for a consultation. You and Barb will receive an email of your completed form, but revenue is removed and is not shared with Barb.

Should you proceed with the licence and need to share your advertising revenue, Barb can enter into a clean team agreement to ensure that the commercially sensitive information is only shared with personnel who need to know.

How do I get Barb data?

There are several options available to access Barb data. The vast majority of Barb subscribers choose to access Barb data via a data bureau. These companies have created user friendly analytic systems and services. A list of the companies is here. As an independent company to Barb, there is a separate fee payable directly to the chosen bureau.

Barb has an API feed which is free to access for Barb subscribers. You will need software to be able to analyse the data.

There is also topline data available in the subscriber section of the Barb website which is updated on a weekly basis. Access to the subscriber section will be available with purchase of a full licence.

How can I use Barb data?

As part of your licence you may use Barb data to promote the sale of advertising space and sponsorship opportunities. You may also use the data to report back to your clients on how their campaigns have performed.

What time period does my licence fee cover?

The licence fee provided is the annual licence fee which is based on the calendar year.

If you would like to take a licence after January, the fee will be prorated to the first of the month in which the licence is active.

Any data you share on revenue is required to produce an accurate estimate, this information is discarded on submission. Submissions are only completed when you click the ‘Submit’ button for a consultation. You and Barb will receive an email of your completed form, but revenue is removed and is not shared with Barb.
